Printable Page YEAR 3
Introduction and Welcome

This year is of course crucial both for success in your studies, and for moving on towards your career goals. Continuing to record and reflect on your learning at this level will prove invaluable as you approach decision-making about your next step, and start making applications for jobs or further study.

Also in these pages are materials to help you plan and keep track of progress with your dissertation, organize your time effectively and set specific targets in order to achieve your academic goals.

As you start approaching employers, they will be looking for answers to questions such as:

  • What have you gained from your degree studies?

  • Describe the skills you could offer to this organization

  • What are your main strengths, and tell us about any weaknesses?

  • How does the study of ... contribute to issues in the modern world?

  • Tell us about your experiences of overcoming obstacles or solving problems?

  • What else have you done alongside your studies which have developed your personal qualities?

You will find it far easier to compose your answers, or produce a personal statement for a postgraduate course application, if you keep your learning diary up-to-date!
